HUD's Next Door Kiosks Are a Hit
A Hammer Award-winning team at the Department of Housing and Urban Development created locally-customized electronic kiosks in communities nationwide to allow citizens access to basic housing information, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using the kiosk, residents can find out if affordable rental housing is available, learn how to file a housing discrimination complaint, get home buying information, and find out how to get an FHA refund. HUD's Next Door Kiosks Project is in the running for the 1999 Innovations in American Government Award.

Find Facts Fast with American FactFinder
You can obtain facts about your community fast on the U.S. Census Bureau's American FactFinder Webpage. Retrieve quick reports and summary tables of statistics on population, housing, industry, and business for the geographic areas of your choice! Search Census Bureau data and then format the results to create customized tabulations. Create reference maps to show boundaries and features for cities, counties, and other geographic entities.

The Web Helps EPA Clean Up Piles of Data
PC Week Online, March 15, 1999--What comes out of the tap when you turn on the faucet for a cold glass of water? The Environmental Protection Agency's Envirofacts warehouse can tell you that and a lot more: By plugging in a ZIP code at the EPA's site, you can get information not only on drinking water, but also on Superfund sites, air pollution, toxic releases, hazardous waste and water discharge permits. EPA has the number three spot on PC Week Online's top 100 Websites in Government and Education.

Online Newsletter Features Reinventing Government Worldwide
