Joint Statement of the Co-Chairmen of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction
Today, the Commission completed two days of meetings at its Arlington , Virginia offices. During this series of meetings the Commissioners received briefings from several of its working groups on a range of intelligence topics and issues. The Commissioners also continued their discussions concerning the preparation of the Commission's report in the upcoming months.
In addition to theses internal discussions, the Commission met with Marine General James E. Cartwright, Commander, United States Strategic Command, who shared his perspectives on intelligence support requirements and initiatives within his organization.
This was the ninth time the full commission has met since its formation in February 2004. The Commission is expected to present its final report to the President by March 31, 2005.
As in the past, the classified information discussed during these sessions required that they be closed to the public. The Commission nonetheless will continue to keep the public informed of its work through periodic statements and through its website, available at www.wmd.gov .
