Joint Statement of the Co-Chairmen of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction

Today, the Commission completed two days of meetings at its Arlington, Virginia offices.

On Wednesday afternoon, members of the Commission were invited to meet with the President and members of the national security team at the White House to give a brief description of the progress of the Commission’s work.

The remainder of the sessions on both days was devoted to receiving presentations and briefings from several of the Commission’s working groups. This was the seventh time the full commission has met since its formation in February 2004. The Commission is expected to issue its final report to the President by March 31, 2005.

As in the past, the classified information discussed during these sessions required that they be closed to the public. The Commission nonetheless will continue to keep the public informed of its work through periodic statements and through its website, available at www.wmd.gov .
