by the Commission in June 2003, this document organizes highlights of
the presentations made to the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy at its
public meetings held from September 2001 through November 2002. The
presentations included in this synthesis were made by invited panelists
or offered through public comment. The highlights are organized by topical
headings which correspond to the headings included in the Commission’s July 2002 document, Toward a National Ocean Policy: Ocean Policy Topics and Related Issues.
The highlights include issues raised by each presenter, as well as recommendations
offered by the presenters for the Commission’s consideration.
An earlier version of this document, which covered
the meetings held between September 2001 and May 2002, was released in
September 2002 as Appendix I to the Commission’s Mid-Term report.
That earlier document has been replaced by this version. For a complete
