Opens Registration for Dallas Meeting

Commission Readies for its Final Meeting

Arlington, VA - January 19, 2000 - The Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce has posted the registration details for its meeting March 20-21 in Dallas, Texas.

The Commission is scheduled to hold its final meeting on March 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held both days in the International Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel, 1717 N. Akard Street, Dallas, Texas. Registration will open one hour before the start of the meeting each day. Also, the meeting will be Webcast live on the Commission's Web site. An agenda will be posted on the Web site in advance of the meeting.

The Commission has blocked a limited number of rooms at the Fairmont Hotel until February 17 for anyone wishing to attend the meeting. Reservations may be made directly with the hotel at 214-720-2020 or at 1-800-527-4727. The rate is $149 (single) and $179 (double) per room per night. Callers must ask reservation operators for this rate and specify the Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce.

The meeting is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is strongly recommended. Please visit the Commission's Web site to register: http://www.ecommercecommission.org, and to view the Webcast of the previous meetings.

About the Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce

Appointed by Congress in October 1998 as part of the Internet Tax Freedom Act, the 19-member Commission has been tasked with studying the impact of federal, state, local, and international taxation and tariffs on transactions using the Internet and Internet Access. The Commission's recommendations are due to Congress no later than April 21, 2000.
