Jane O'Dell Baumgarten

Jane O'Dell Baumgarten of North Bend, Oregon is a member of the AARP Board of Directors, Class of 2002, where she serves on various board committees. Prior to her election to the Board, Mrs. Baumgarten was chair of AARP's national Health and Long-Term Care Advisory Committee and chair of the Health and Future Generations Committee of the National Legislative Council. She previously chaired the Oregon State Legislative Committee, the Legislative Committee of Chapter #694, and the National Retired Teachers Association Unit #11. Mrs. Baumgarten also was AARP's representative to the Coalition on Mental Health and Aging. She currently is a member of the AARP State Legislation Health Task Force Team. In her community, Mrs. Baumgarten was a member of the Coos-Curry Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council. She previously served on the Governor's Commission for Senior Services, and on the board of directors for the Pacific Child Center in North Bend. Mrs. Baumgarten also was a member of the Oregon Education Association's State Legislative Committee, president of the North Bend Education Association, and a delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. Mrs. Baumgarten is a retired educator. Prior to retirement, she taught in several states as well as in France and Saudi Arabia.
