Dr. Dean Ornish
Dr. Dean Ornish, of Sausalito, CA, is the founder, president, and director of the non-profit Preventive Medicine Research Institute. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He was the first to prove that heart disease is reversible by changing diet and lifestyle. Dr. Ornish has published many books and academic papers and has received numerous awards in recognition of his work, including the Outstanding Young Alumnus award from the University of Texas. He received a B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin, where he gave the baccalaureate address, and completed his medical training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts General hospital. He is listed in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Healthcare and Medicine. Dr. Ornish was featured in the recent "TIME 100" issue on alternative medicine and recognized by Life magazine as "one of the 50 most influential members of his generation."
