South Hill, Virginia is in the heartland of tobacco producing counties in the State of Virginia.  The Town of South Hill is very much interested in providing alternative economic development in lieu of the production of tobacco. To this end the Town of South Hill wants to provide high tech training to the area residents and high tech jobs to the recipients of the training. In order for the program of the reduction of tobacco to be successful, Towns like South Hill need federal assistance in the establishment of training centers and economic incentives to attract high tech industries that will employ persons who are dependent on the production of tobacco.
