Tobacco program - HOOPCHAMPDAD@aol.com, 11/21/00 7:29AM
The tobacco program has always paid its way. Unlike other government programs the tobacco program has never cost the American public a dime. I want the program to remain in place. Without it the tobacco farmer will be put out of business. It is time the majority ran this country instead of the minority. If something is not done to preserve the family farm soon there will be no one to raise food for the American public. You think gas prices are high. You just wait till you have to buy food from a foreign country. One dollar fifty cents gas will be cheap compared to ten dollars a pound for potatoes. Also, it was discussed about selling our tobacco poundage to the tobacco companies. This could be a feasible option if you restore our bases to the poundage of three or four years ago, not this reduce base crap.
