Subject: Federal Tax Reform Comment: Gentlemen In my opinion the most important issues concern equitable basis, collect-ability and cost of collections. Without question the present system is a self-perpetuating beauracy which requires an add-on army of tax accountants, lawyers and preparers. There would seem to be 2 reasonable courses of action. Option 1. The most streamlined approach would without question be a national sales tax. Collection would occur at point of purchase and would enable 1) graduated cost automatically tied to spending patterns 2)force enclusivity from all current grey and black market income genrators currently unknown to taxing authorities 3)eliminate off-setting costs associated with tax collection such as forms, postage, data input, mailing returns along with the fixed costs of people and facilities. Option 2. A flat tax is another good option. The approach used in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is simple, fast and easy. With the availability of technology doing taxes should not become a burden on working people either in time or cost of hiring professionals.
