Professor Crane’s research has dealt with
large-scale patterns of plant evolution and the integration of
paleobotanical data with information from living plants. His research
has clarified the evolution and radiation of the flowering plants in the
Early Cretaceous period and has also synthesized data on spores and
pollen to clarify the dynamics of global vegetation change during the
Cretaceous. Through his work at Kew, he is actively involved in plant
conservation.
