Donald C. Smaltz, Independent Counsel In Re Espy, today announced:

   Friday evening, February 14, 1997, a federal jury in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi found defendant Norris Faust, Jr. not guilty of three counts of lying to a federal grand jury sitting in Jackson, Mississippi on August 28 and 29, 1996.

    Mr. Smaltz stated:

      "This jury has spoken on the charges against this defendant. In our system of justice, that ends this particular matter and we now move on to other aspects of our investigation."
