U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy
To Submit Final Report To
Congress Sept. 20
3:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20,
Room 192 Dirksen Senate Office Bldg.
Event Open to Media and Public
Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy will present its
Final Report, An Ocean Blueprint for the 21st Century, to
Members of Congress at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2004, in
Room 192 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The event is open
to the media and the public.
Along with Commission Chairman Admiral James D. Watkins, USN (Ret.),
the following Members of Congress will attend and offer remarks:
- U.S. Senator Ted Stevens
- U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings
- U.S. Senator Judd Gregg
- U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe
- (Other Members also invited, not confirmed)
Senior administration officials, on behalf of the President, will
accept the Commission report earlier in the day. That event is not
open to the media or the public.
An electronic copy of the Final Report will be available on the Commission
website, http://oceancommission.gov/documents/welcome.html,
once the report is released.
Admiral to Testify Sept. 21
On Tuesday, September
21, 2004, Admiral Watkins will present the Commission's findings
and recommendations for a coordinated and comprehensive national ocean
policy before the Senate Committee on Commerce,
Science and Transportation at 9:30 a.m. in Russell
