Archive National Partnership for Reinventing GovernmentAugust 12, 1998 The Honorable Richard Armey Dear Representative Armey: It is my pleasure to inform you that the Dallas and Ft. Worth community has been selected by Vice President Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing Government as a pilot community in the Hassle-Free Zone Initiative. The Hassle-Free Zone initiative is an exciting new program conceived by the Vice President's National Partnership for Reinventing Government. Hassle-Free Zones are built with advice and feedback from our community customers. Hassle-Free teams, led by enthusiastic career federal employees, will develop new ways of delivering service to our customers, which will lead to a visible change in the community. Government services, including seamless service with our state and local partners, will one day be delivered when and where our customers want and need them. It could be providing mobile government services or the creation of government-wide problem-solving days. We are aware that your community is already developing hassle-free projects, such as providing seamless service through the integrated purchase of alternative fuel vehicles. These will be exciting changes that will put smiles on our customers' faces. Our "pilot" communities will be Kansas City, Missouri, Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and Seattle, Washington. We plan to pilot these communities this summer and go nationwide by the end of the year. Your community will be a model for future Hassle-Free Zones throughout the nation, forever changing the way the federal government does business. We have selected Elizabeth Salih as the team leader in Dallas and Fort Worth. Her phone number is 214-767-0310. We look forward to working with you to help make the Dallas community one of the most hassle-free communities in the nation. Thank you for your interest and support. Sincerely,
