COMMISSION SETS DATES AND LOCATIONS
FOR 1998 MEETINGS


(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- At its recent meeting in Atlantic City, January 21-22, the National Gambling Impact Study Commission decided upon dates and locations for its remaining meetings this year. Subject matters for focus were set for the next meeging. Primary issues for future meetings will be determined later. Commissioners may amend the following schedule as the year progresses.

March 16-17 Boston area, MA (possible side trip to Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, CT)
Primary Focus: Lotteries, Assessment of State and local revenue, the role of advertising in promoting gambling, and an introduction to Native American gaming.
     
May 20-21 Chicago, IL
     
July 29-30 San Diego, CA (Tempe, AZ)
     
September 10-11 Biloxi, MS (New Orleans, LA)
     
November 10-11 Las Vegas (Laughlin), NV
