NATIONAL GAMBLING IMPACT STUDY COMMISSIONN G I S C Chicago Meeting, May 21, 1998 NEW BUSINESS CHAIRMAN JAMES; New business. At this point would any Commissioner like to bring up an issue for discussion? With that, it is now approximately 12:00. I'd like to entertain a motion for us to be able to go into executive session. Let me just say for the benefit of the audience, it is indeed with the spirit of wanting to operate completely within the sunshine that I even ask for such a motion. It just facilitates us as Commissioners having the ability to have lunch together. In that regard to discuss things maybe in a preliminary nature, opinions and ideas that aren't necessarily going to be formulated into any policy. It will indeed be an informal exchange of ideas. There will be no official business. There will be no votes that will happen when we go into that session. May I entertain a motion? COMMISSIONER LANNI: So moved. CHAIRMAN JAMES: Second? COMMISSIONER MC CARTHY: Second. CHAIRMAN JAMES: All in favor. (Chorus of ayes.) CHAIRMAN JAMES: The ayes have it. We are going to -- I do not anticipate that it will take us the entire time to have lunch. I would very much like to try to regain some time on our agenda here if that's agreeable to the Commissioners. I'd like to get back here -- we had originally talked about 12:30 to 2:30, 12:00 to 2:30. Do you think it would be possible for us to eat and be back here by 1:30, Commissioners? Okay. With that, I'd like to get back at 1:30 and see if we could move things up on agenda and begin our discussion and demonstration at that time. So let's see if we can regain a little time and be back here at 1:30. Thank you. We stand in recess. (Whereupon, a recess was had and a working lunch at the Alegra Hotel from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.)
