NATIONAL GAMBLING IMPACT STUDY COMMISSIONMR. MARTIN SANTOSCHAIRPERSON JAMES: Martin Santos. MR. SANTOS: (Through translator.) Okay. My name is Martin Santos. I've been working at the Bicycle Club Casino for 12 years. I don't have a union. I have four children and we don't have any health insurance. I live under a lot of pressure because if one of my children were to get sick I don't know what I do because I don't have enough money to pay a hospital bill. In fact it happened to me once that my daughter, Alejandra, when she was five years had an accident. She had fallen out of my van and I had to take her to the hospital emergency room and I had to spend $400.00. I earn about $400.00 every two weeks. I live on a very tight budget even with no emergency. We also have no job security. Even though I've been working for 12 years, even though I've been 12 years I still have the insecurity everyday that I'm going to go into work and I'll be told that I don't have a job. I'd like to have a union because that way I would feel like I had more job security. Thank you. CHAIRPERSON JAMES: Thank you.
