Norwood Knight-Richardson, M.D., M.B.A.
Biography
Dr. Norwood Knight-Richardson is the CEO of the Richardson Group, a privately held consulting company, and Associate Professor at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He was appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Tommy G. Thompson, to serve on two National Advisory Councils. These are the National Advisory Mental Health Council for the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institutes of Health in January 2002, and the National Advisory Committee for Injury Prevention and Control for the Centers for Disease Control in November 2001.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Knight-Richardson earned an MA degree in international relations from Tufts/Harvard Universities and an MBA from Harvard University. He earned his MD degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed his residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. Before going into medicine, he was an international banker. He has served in the public sector in various capacities as a clinician, administrator, and hospital CEO. He continues to hold a strong interest and participation in public sector medicine, specifically in preventative medicine and mental health.
