distributions
made to babil province for area projects
Al Hilla, Babil Province. The Coalition Provisional
Authority awarded more than $145,000 (275,500,000 Iraqi Dinars *) in contracts
for community projects. The projects will employ local people from Babil
Province.
CPA believes a good educational system is essential as Iraq
progresses toward self-government. The funds will completely repair and rebuild
the Aur Primary School and the Ausuma bin Zaid School. During the summer, CPA
also gave $520,000 (9.88 billion Iraqi Dinars *) to 1040 schools in Babil
Province – each school received $500 (950,000 Iraqi Dinars *). Repairing and
improving schools creates a better learning environment for children and
increases opportunities for their futures as they learn in a free Iraq.
The money will also repair the Reghela Medical Clinic. All
the money is given in increments, and as the work is properly completed, more
money will be given to the Iraqi contractors.
Assisting the people in Babil Province is an important goal for the
Coalition Provisional Authority. It is part of a larger initiative to help
Iraqis as they move forward toward democracy and a sovereign government. CPA
South-Central will announce other projects in the coming weeks.
* Assuming $1 equal 1,900
Iraqi Dinars.
