New LIBERATION
SCHOOL BUILDING
Al Hilla, Babil.
On Sunday, October 19th, the Coalition Provisional Authority
(CPA) South-Central Regional Office gathered with Hilla residents to commemorate
the new Liberation School building. CPA South-Central provided the funds to
build the school building, which officials named Liberation School.
Liberation School will officially open for classes in a few
weeks and will provide around 400 boys and girls an opportunity to attend school
in their own neighborhood. Previously, the children had to walk several miles
for classes. The school project employed local people from the community.
Iraqi children represent the long-term future of a
democratic Iraq. Because CPA believes a good educational system is essential as
Iraq progresses toward self-government, it has also provided funds to repair
over 1040 schools in Babil Province, built playgrounds and sports fields,
provided youth centers, and has repaired child care centers in Babil Province.
Building these schools and other youth facilities creates a better environment
for children and increases opportunities for their futures as they learn in a
free Iraq.
Assisting the people in Babil Province is an important goal
for the Coalition Provisional Authority. It is part of a larger initiative to
help Iraqis as they move forward toward democracy. CPA South-Central will
announce other projects in the coming weeks.
