South-central
governors meet to discuss issues
Al Hilla, Babil. The six governors of the
South-Central Region met today to discuss important issues for their provinces.
The Governors represented Al Anbar, Babil, Karbala, An Najaf, Al Qadisiyah, and
Wasit. The meeting signifies an important step forward in self-government for
the Iraqi people.
The governors remain committed to
addressing the needs of the people. Some of the issues discussed included
power, security, employment, tourism, and the border. The six governors
organized their ideas in a letter that will be delivered to Ambassador Bremer.
Today’s successful meeting represents an
important milestone for Iraq as it continues on the road to full democracy.
Said one of the governors, “Democracy is a valuable thing…we must work together
to build and protect our freedom.”
The governors plan to meet again in one
month to share more ideas with each other.
