FACTS ON IRAQI CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTORATE (FIRE SERVICE)

• Currently 8,000 firefighters nationwide

• Over next 30 months, additional 4,000 recruits will be trained

• 125 fire stations to be renovated

• 27 new fire stations under construction

• Civil Defense Directorate headquarters renovation underway

• State-of-the-art National Training Academy to be constructed

• United States has allocated $182 million provided for fire services in 2004 supplemental budget
