Top Sunni Cleric Returns to Iraq to Work for
Peace
The ICDRP is pleased to announce the return to Iraq of one of the nation’s
top Sunni Islamic Leaders Sheik Abdul Latif Humayem. The Sheik is the head of
the Organization of the Peoples’ Islamic Conference based in Iraq and one of the
most respected and well known Iraqi Islamic leaders. In returning the Sheik has
committed himself to play a leading role in the work of the ICDRP and o do all
in his power to work towards Reconciliation and Peace.
Sheik Abdul Latif Humayem said, “I shall work in this great land of Abraham to
seek peace and reconciliation. We must all work towards the peaceful rebuilding
of the nation of Iraq; we must be inclusive in involving all sections of the
Iraqi society, without prejudice or discrimination, in the rebuilding of this
great land. We must work towards the ending of all violence in Iraq while
addressing in earnest its root causes”.
Sheik Abdul Latif will be meeting with other key religious leaders and members
of the CPA in order to take forward plans for peaceful the resolution of the
present crisis.
