Hazardous Duty Pay Authorized for Security Forces
Baghdad, Dec. 22, 2003 -- The Coalition Provisional Authority has announced a new Hazardous Duty Pay for all members of the Iraqi Security Forces. The monthly pay is an allowance added to the security forces’ current base salaries. All members of the Iraqi Security Forces will see the new allowance in their next pay. “The Iraqi Security Forces are on the front lines fighting the terrorists that would prevent Iraq from becoming the prosperous and free nation that we know it will be,” said Ambassador L. Paul Bremer, Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority. “It is only right that these brave security forces, when faced with increased dangers, should be compensated for the hazardous duties they perform.” The monthly hazardous duty pay for members of each of the Security Services varies between forces. For example, members of the Border Police will receive 130,000 dinar per month in hazardous duty pay while members of the Facility Protection Service will receive 96,000 dinars per month. The allowance is the same for all members of each service and does not vary with rank.
