Instructions for Accessing These Data
The Working Group obtained about 14,000 responses to the closed-ended Health Care Poll. A Code Book, in PDF format, is provided. This includes the variable definitions, formats, and frequencies for the data file. A text file containing variable labels that can be used with standard statistical software is also provided. The complete set of responses is available in a Microsoft Excel data file. The poll data frequencies are also reported in Appendix C of “Dialogue with the American People” in the report “Health Care That Works For All Americans.”
The Web Response map (PDF - 1.9 MB) visually portrays the locations across the United States (based on zip codes) of Americans who responded to the Health Care Poll. To protect confidentiality, individual zip codes were not retained with the poll responses.
Please note: Some responses to an early version of the poll were not included in this electronic file due to slight differences in question content and format. These responses were analyzed separately by the Working Group, but the small number of these responses precludes publishing them as a separate data file.
