Instructions for Accessing These Data

The statute establishing the Citizens’ Health Care Working Group required it to carry out an extensive outreach effort regarding the public’s response to a set of Interim Recommendations.

The on-line questionnaires and responses are made available for the general public’s and researchers’ use. There are two versions of the questionnaires, reflecting material published by the Working Group on July 18, 2006 that provided some additional context for each of the recommendations, and a change in the order in which the Interim Recommendation were listed for comment. However, both versions sought entirely open-ended (free text) comments on each of the six Interim Recommendations.

The Web Response map (PDF - 1.9 MB) visually portrays the locations (based on zip codes) of Americans who responded to the request to comment on Interim Recommendations. To protect confidentiality, individual zip codes were not retained with the comments in the Excel file published on this web site.

Note: Additional public comment was gathered in community meetings (in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and at E-Bay in California).

Comments from many sources aresummarized in the report to the President and the Congress, “Health Care That Works For All Americans.” You can read comments from:
