January 5, 2000 Re: Advisory Committee on Online Access and Security - Nomination, P004807 Dear Mr. Clark: Please allow this letter to act as a nomination to the Advisory Committee on Online Access and Security. I would like to nominate myself, Dennis Moore, as an interested and informed party. I am the owner of an internet marketing consulting firm in upstate New York, and will be working closely on a daily basis with whatever recommendations, guidelines and rules which result from the recommendations of the Advisory Committee. My firm serves a range of business-to-business and retail internet marketers. We are intimately involved and familiar with the methods and technologies for collecting personal and marketing data, and we develop strategies for our clients for the application of this type of information. We are all extremely interested in developing fair information practices for commercial websites. Moreover, I am one of the leaders of this area's New Media consortium, named Info River Valley and am, therefore, in a position to bring to the Committee's deliberations the insights and concerns of most major areas of specialty within the internet development community. At least, I would certainly like to try. In addition, I am an adjunct lecturer in the Communications & Media Department of the State University of New York at New Paltz. It is my hope that my academic affiliation will bring yet another vital dimension to the activities of the Advisory Committee. And it is also my hope that I may bring back not only to my clients and colleagues, but also to my students, the important insights I am likely to gain into the regulatory process as it addresses the internet. Thank you for your kind consideration. Sincerely yours, Dennis Moore (in lieu of signature) |
