HUD's
Next Door Kiosks Are a Hit
A
Hammer Award-winning team at the Department of Housing and Urban
Development created locally-customized electronic kiosks in communities
nationwide to allow citizens access to basic housing information,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using the kiosk, residents can find
out if affordable rental housing is available, learn how to file
a housing discrimination complaint, get home buying information,
and find out how to get an FHA refund. HUD's Next Door Kiosks Project
is in the running for the 1999 Innovations in American Government
Award.
