Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction
October 21, 2004
Today the Commission concluded two days of meetings at its offices in Arlington , Virginia .
These meetings included separate sessions with Robert Mueller, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and George Tenet, former Director of Central Intelligence. These sessions included discussions concerning how to better equip the Intelligence Community to respond to threats posed by weapons of mass destruction and on Intelligence Community reform issues more generally. The Commission also received presentations from several of its working groups on the progress of their work to date. Immediately after the meeting, several members of the Commission received a briefing from the Central Intelligence Agency's Deputy Director of Operations.
As in the past, the classified information discussed during these sessions required that they be closed to the public. The Commission nonetheless will continue to keep the public informed of its work through periodic statements and through its website, available at www.wmd.gov .
