TAX PANEL ANNOUNCES NEXT MEETING IN WASHINGTON ON APRIL 18

WASHINGTON, DC - Senators Connie Mack and John Breaux, Chairman and Vice -Chairman of the President's Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform, today announced the Panel will hold its seventh meeting on April 18, 2005, in the Washington, DC area at 12:30 pm. This meeting will focus on the interaction of the Federal tax code with state and local tax systems. In addition, the panel will look at the impact the tax code has on business investment, including the effect of cost recovery and depreciation rules.

Further details for this meeting, including the specific location and the list of witnesses, will be provided in later releases.

The President's Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform was established by President Bush on January 7, 2005. President Bush has charged the bipartisan panel with recommending reforms to the tax code that will make the U.S. tax system simpler, fairer and more growth oriented.
