Subject: Taxation Comment: After studying the basics of several types of taxation currently being entertained by the Congress, first of all, I believe the current IRS form of graduated taxation must be eliminated completely! It is subject to various forms of abuse and evasion, and is much too difficult to understand. Secondly, I believe the Fair Tax is the most comprehensive and "fair" way to proceed. The Fair Tax ensures that ALL people who choose to purchase new products will pay the same percentage tax, whether poor or wealthy, and whether they purchase inexpensive goods or "designer classics". The illegal alien, the illegal drug merchant, those on welfare, etc. would pay the same tax FOR NEW PRODUCTS as the wealthy. If anyone wishes to purchase pre-owned products, they would save by not paying the tax. In addition, the manufacturer would not be charged for materials with which to produce the final product - thus avoiding "double taxation" which is passed on to the consumer. Also, there is provision for a monthly rebate based on income for necessary food, etc. PLEASE ENACT THE FAIR TAX!! Thank you. Connie R. White |
