Comment: Dear Members, the first tax reform that I can think off deals with Congress. When a tax is established, like the one to pay for the Spanish-American War, it needs to expire once its purpose is completed. Citizens do not keep up with it. By law this action must be mandatory. The second tax reform I can think off is to have a limit on the tax credits and abatements and just plain gifts Congress members can give to his/hers state. Why is the senator from (State A) able to provide funds for a municipal pool or parking project? Only national interest projects or interests should be federally funded. The states should fund individual items. Third tax reform that I can think off is to stop members of Congress to add items to non appropriation bills related to spending like the military budget or education budget. Only the appropriation bills should deal with disbursing federal money. Speaking of education, I think this subject should be a matter for the federal a uthorities to get involved with. States should handle that. I have a thousand more but I shall finish with this suggestion: clearly we have lost the idea that the central government should be dealing with simple national interests and objectives like interstate transportation, national military forces, etc. and we need to start thinking of the federal tax burden on citizens because of our generosity to business, other nations and many federal programs that are simply outlandish in size and in coverage. All programs should be looked at and evaluated. And if Mr and Mrs Jones wish to have 10 children the max federal deduction should stop at 2. The other 8 are Mr and Mrs Jones responsibility. Stop buying votes with monies we do not have. And I would like to see the White House budget cut by 50%. I seem to recollect the latest figure was over 250 billion per year to run the White House. Outrageous. Fix it. Thanks. R.A.Cardona, Loveland, OH 45140 513-677-2845 Ramon Cardona ramoncardona3315@earthlink.net EarthLink Revolves Around You. |
