Subject: Employer Health Benefit Tax

Comment: There is little room for debate about the state of healthcare in the US today. Rising costs are pushing more and more Americans out of health coverage due to costs. Fewer employers are offering benefits also due to costs. To start a tax on the employer sponsored health benefit plans of employees is a step in the wrong direction and will increase the number of un insured Americans- this is a political situation that this administration does not need. It also brings up to question those employers who have self-funded plans subject to ERISA. How will the tax affect them? This will be a blow to those plans especially, and this needs to be considered. I think the consequences of this move will be greater than initially perceived. This idea needs another alternative and I suggect you strike this from the list of ideas.
