Subject: Elimination of the Tax Code, NOT Comment: A pricipal issue is being overlooked by the politicians and bureaucrats. The present Tax Code is Big Brother in disguise. The public is becoming aware of the all intrusive nature of the IRS. Why should anyone have to tell the government how much money they pay their church, doctors, schools, hospitals, dentists, lawyers, accountants, mortgage company, clothing store for work clothes, etc., etc. Why should anyone have to tell the government how much money they made.. where and how they made it. The "Income Tax" is ridiculous. No tax should be based on such a premise. The Code has become so convoluted that it takes hours upon hours to prepare the information necessary to derive what one's "income" is. It encourages cheating and non-payment due to the complexity of the matter. A pay as you go consumption tax is the only thing that makes any sense. That is why it won't happen without a huge public uprising demanding such. Cash registers can easily be programmed for another sales tax line. It can be done without a regressive nature, too. None of this will happen because just as I was afraid to put my name on this message, everyone else is afraid too. What a sad, sad, statement that is concerning our government and the IRS. Everyone is afraid to speak their mind for fear of reprisal from the Gestapo (IRS) in Washington. In reading this I sound like some kind of radical nut case, but the truth is, I am an accountant (formerly with a CPA firm) who can't prepare my own tax return anymore without help from other accountants (who really aren't sure about many tax issues themselves). What a mess!! No cure in sight. It is political suicide to eliminate it, so it will never happen... Just more "simplifications of the complications". |
