Subject: Viable alternatives to today's Income Tax

Comment: I applaud the efforts being undertaken to address badly needed tax reform in this country. The current IRS code is so convoluted and complex that I doubt if anybody, other than those with the simplest tax situation, can be 100% assured that they filed an accurate return despite best efforts. A replacement is needed and I personally favor a FLAT TAX such as that commonly known as the FAIR TAX (www.fairtax.org). The FAIR TAX would scrap the current tax and basically replace it with a consumption tax. It is also tax-neutral.

The present income tax, with its myriad regulations and sometimes strongarm IRS needs to be replaced with a simpler system that doesn't intrude into people's lives by requiring hours and hours to fill-out forms. Every year I spend literally hours filling-out forms and trying to decipher IRS regulations/code. And my taxes aren't even that complicated compared to those of my friends who invest heavily!

I'm of the view that almost anything would be better than what we have and I support a FLAT TAX (ie Fair Tax).

Thank you,
Kevin Kelley
