Subject: Welfare Recipients Must Contribute

Comment: Hello

Here is my problem. I was all for a flat sales tax until I realized that welfare recipients will be exempt from the tax. I have had welfare clients for over 30 years and know specifically about how MOST of them operate. First, many many of them work off the books so they will continue to be welfare recipients well into old age. However, some may not work off the books. Then, if they are NOT dealing with illegal activities, they have an “old man” of “father of their children” who is involved with illegal activities. Since the fair tax is supposed to equalize contributors, true welfare recipients will not have the funds to purchase much so they need not worry about the flat sales tax. If they purchase anything they should also pay since they funds are from an illegal source. In most cases, they are not really indigent and they need to contribute to the economy right along with the people who are law-abiding taxpayers.
