Subject: national sales tax Comment: It is my opinion that we should do away with income tax and have a national sales tax. The process of the federal government collecting the money that it needs to provide the services it provides for the Americal people could be greatly simplified. With the income tax system that he have now you never know if you are going to owe money at the end of the year or not. Speaking as a person who had a nearly $10,000.00 tax bill several years ago that was horrible to have to deal with. With a national sales tax there would be no gamble at the end of the year if you had enough witholdings taken out or not. The people who are in a higher tax bracket now will still have a higher tax to pay because they are the ones who are spending more money. The people at the other end of the financial ladder will not have to pay as much in taxes. There could also be a system similar to a credit card where the people who would be excempt from paying taxes would get out of paying the tax up front and they also would not have to wait for a tax refund each year. All in all I think this is a fair system of taxation. Something needs to be done about our tax system. Any major change that would take place is going to be a challenge but in the long run would be worth it. Thank You, Jeff Dillard |
