Subject: Please go with the FairTax!

Comment: I have studied the FairTax a good bit and believe it is the best plan and absolutely necessary!

It is my passionate belief that our current system is really nothing short of “insane” because of it’s numerous faults. One of the most bothersome of those faults to me is the tremendous waste of productivity we have as a country because of the enormous cost of compliance for both individuals and corporations. I am incensed over the amount of time I give up each year to understand all that is necessary to do my personal and small business taxes. Comprehensive tax reform might be difficult but would be well worth our courageous leaders tackling, to end the “difficult” task we all have throughout each and every year, with the current system.

I believe strongly that Americans need to see clearly what they are being taxed in order to better judge what government programs they are really willing to pay for and which they aren’t. The FairTax would eliminate the “unseen” taxes and make it more obvious to people what their tax burden is, which to me is the “moral” thing to do.

I believe that we will be come more competitive as a nation once the “hidden” tax that is in all our goods so that corporations can pay the income tax no longer needs to be there. I believe we’ll be more productive as a nation because of the time-savings from having a system that is easy to understand and free of the effects of decades of lobbyist-driven loopholes, preferences, etc.

The tax burden distribution of the FairTax is fairer than the present tax system because of its rebate to ensure that taxes are only paid on consumption above the poverty line. Thus, it is not regressive as opponents of tax reform always claim when they are trying to keep the “status quo”.

If the American people are given a true picture of the FairTax, they will be overwhelmingly in favor of it.

Please do all you can to help this long needed reform to become a reality and not just settle for what is “easy” in the short term, but will continue to burden our nation for years and years to come. Be courageous!
