Subject: Tax reform with Fairtax

Comment: Dear Tax Panel:

Our current tax system punishes those who work hard and save, and rewards others for not working. This is ridiculous.

I'm confused by those who say that "the majority of homeowners do not itemize their deductions, interest, etc."? Huh? Every home owner I know or meet uses the long form to save as much tax as possible. Why throw away more money? The same goes for charity contributions.

Basically, we need an overhaul. We need to scrap the current tax model, and replace it with the Fairtax (HR 25/S 25). This proposal brings the true tax to light instead of hiding it in everything we purchase. It also is more 'fair' because those who spend more pay more. Those who save more and buy used items pay less (or none for poor families). This returns us to a tax system more like what our Founding Fathers wanted.

Recently I read that the average American family pays 1800-3000 dollars each year (of income tax) to make up for those who don't pay their taxes. Why are the law-abiding citizens punished for the misdeeds of others?

Oh yeah, and our trade deficit passed $700 billion recently as we continue to lose ground internationally.

With all the income, FICA, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. taxes my family paid this year we could have bought a new car, free and clear. But the money was sucked into the tax vortex, never to be seen by us again.

It's time for a change.

Please review the benefits of the Fairtax at www.fairtax.org and see for yourself how the Fairtax can help individuals, families, businesses, the economy, the poor, retirees, and our country as a whole.

This is a historic opportunity to do good for our country and to help our citizens. Please consider the Fairtax plan, and with it the repeal of the the 16th amendment (income tax).

Thank you for listening to my comments and have a good day.
