Subject: Tax Reform

Comment: In regards to the Fair Tax, it is crazy to think that the government would enact a tax system in which paying taxes would be a "voluntary" thing. The government operates on taxes, and having greater uncertainty about whether money is coming in or not is not what the government needs or wants. The government needs a steady and certain flow of income to operate at its best.

And for the people who think that the IRS will be abandoned if there is a national sales tax, are you crazy too? The IRS will still be there, and in a much more personal way. Paying taxes is responsibilty of the people, that means YOU, not the businesses (they just collect), and the IRS will want to make sure that you are paying your taxes and not paying for goods under the table. Businesses would be audited in great detail, but you, the taxpayer will be audited not by the IRS going through your financial records, but by the IRS going through all your personal purchases and belongings. You will have to keep receipts of all your purchases, so the IRS can prove that you paid tax on the goods and if you don't, well you know what happens. They will have to come into your house and go through your personal things if they have a reason to or if they just want to do a random audit. Its insane to think that any tax system will not have an agency like the IRS. I certainly would rather have the IRS auditing my papers and bank statements than the IRS going through my personal things. What would you rather have?
