Subject: Fair Tax Comment: The Income Tax --flat or progressive-- is a dissaster because the IRS has to maintain data about private citizens income,expenses,deductions,etc. It also does not collect taxes from unreported income,illegal employment (Paid 'under the table'),illegal income sources (drugs,etc)and is subject to large amounts of abuse,underreporting and is very confusing for an honest taxpayer/businessman. A National Sales Tax would be collecte d by the Staes and forwarded to the Federal government. The IRS would be eliminated. Poor people would be protected beause food,medicine,housing , utilities,and USED items would not be taxed. |
