Subject: Income Tax Reform Comment: I would like to see a VAT type tax or a national sales type of tax to replace the current income tax. In order to avoid imposing a new tax on the low-income wage earners I would also support, as many states have, no sales tax on food. I feel this would be the fairest tax, in that if you don't buy an item you will not pay the tax. It will eliminate the government subsidy on housing that the wealthy can afford and thus get a bigger tax break (subsidy). It will also reduce the government’s as well as the individual’s tax infrastructure expenses. Thanks you for allowing me this chance to provide my input. |
