The news reports out today state that your preliminary ideas for tax reform are to raise tax rates on the rich and narrow the home mortgage interest deduction. Great, some more pages in the already overweight tax code. I understand why the FairTax would not be popular with lobbyists as it is so simple, their services would probably no longer be needed. Come on, take a chance, be bold. Simplify the system, and make it easier, not more complex. Why are so many people ducking the existing system now? How can one possibly defend the existing system? You have an opportunity. Don't screw it up. |
