Subject: I Strongly Support Replacing Income Tax with a National Sales Tax

Comment: Dear Sir or Madame:
I strongly support ending the Income Tax and replacing it with a National Sales Tax. Income Tax penalizes and discourages work. It is also an invasive system which leads to cheating and feelings of guilt -- requiring citizens to bare their lives to the federal government. It is tremendously expensive to collect both in hours and dollars.

In contrast, a National Sales Tax, similar to the Sales Tax that states currently collect, would tax those who have enough money to spend and would not require citizens to file any paperwork. It would encourage both work and savings. It would cost less for both the citizens and the Federal Government to collect. It would get the Federal Government out of the private lives of citizens. And it could be arranged in a way that to some extent discretionary spending, rather than essentials, were taxed so that poorer people would not be so heavily taxed as wealthier.

I think that ending the Income Tax is the single more important tax change that the Federal Government can make and that it would greatly boost our economy.

Thank you for this opportunity to give our opinions.
Sincerely,
Alexandra and Kim Hopkins
