Subject: Tax REFORM

Comment: I am troubled by the Panel's apparent disregard of the word "REFORM." The progressive income tax is something one expects to see in a socialist society, and is currently keeping our nation's economy stagnant at best. Please change your outlook in favor of what is best for us as a nation (i.e.- creating jobs and enabling U.S. companies to compete fairly overseas) instead of worrying about stepping on the toes of lobbyists and special interests. Stop punishing success and rewarding sloth. Get off of your collective asses and do what you know in your heart needs to be done. The Fair Tax is hands down the best solution for tax reform. The growth it would create in our national economy would bring lost jobs back to America ten-fold. There would be no tax penalty if people decided to save for retirement (personal savings are currently at record low levels... guaranteeing that people will be dependent on Social Security at retirement age). Think of how much easier it would be for you politically if the majority of people saved enough for retirement that they would need less from Social Security. Keep in mind that everyone (citizen, resident alien, illegal alien, drug dealer, money launderer, etc.) would be paying into our national treasury and supporting Social Security...perhaps the only solution to our problem of a declining work-force and an expanding elderly population. Again, I ask that you as a panel support the Fair Tax legislation. The transition might be a little scary, but you could be remembered in the future as the group that decided that enough was enough and had the guts to do what was necessary to guarantee the survival and prosperity of our country. You would be in good company, the last group of politicians to rise to the occasion in such a manner are listed on the bottom of a document called the Declaration of Independence.
