Subject: Don't dismiss the Fair Tax

Comment: It has become apparent from recent media reports that your panel has expressed a desire not to recommend the Fair Tax bill to the Bush Administration. By the recommendations that you are reportedly discussing, it seems that your panel has no desire to suggest any meaningful change in the way taxes are collected in this country.

The Fair Tax has many benefits, all of which I'm sure have been discussed thoroughly in previous postings. It also may have some drawbacks, but after careful study, I believe they are minimal and do not outweigh the benefits. Many leading economists endorse this plan; it is not a half-baked or ill-considered idea.

Because of your inattentiveness to any ideas that promote meaningful change and unwillingness to follow the President's criteria for reform, I am sending an e-mail to President Bush asking him to demand more meaningful suggestions from you, or else disband your "reform" panel.

Sincerely,
Aaron Fox
