Subject: Real Tax Reform

Comment: Real tax reform cannot be made by changing a few of the thousands of lines of complicated tax code. Look at your charter:

1. simplify Federal tax laws to reduce the costs and administrative burdens of compliance with such laws;

Anything short of eliminating the current code will do no such thing.

2. share the burdens and benefits of the Federal tax structure in an appropriately progressive manner while recognizing the importance of homeownership and charity in American society; and

The Fair Tax does this and more, the current code does not. What other tax reform plans completely eliminate the burden of not just federal income tax, but social security and medicare from the poor? What other tax reform is going to allow people to be better able to afford a home or donate to charity?

3. promote long-run economic growth and job creation, and better encourage work effort, saving, and investment, so as to strengthen the competitiveness of the United States in the global marketplace.

Nothing satisfies this requirement more than the Fair Tax. Nothing. You are doing a great disservice to the people of this country by not recommending it as written.
