Comment: Icertainly favor making tax forms simpler to use and feasible for the average person to do without the help and cost of an accountant. If IRS is willing to do them for me, I'd be delighted to review it and agree or disagree.
Especially onerous are the K-1s and reporting required for low-income housing limited partnerships. No one would buy them if they knew how much it would cost them in tax preparers over the years to do this. Mine are over 10 years old now and give no benefits, but also won't sell off the properties for (20?) more years--netting next to nothing. Meanwhile every year there is tax reporting. I understand from my tax preparer that selling them (for a pittance) or giving them away both have costly tax implications. How about help for a do-gooder on this? --marlys maher --
