Subject: The FairTax will deliver what its' name implies. Comment: Dear Tax Reform Panel; I am truly alarmed at the interest in the Flat Tax and other tax plans that will maintain the IRS with its' contol over Americans and their money. These plans will do nothing to bring money into our government coffers from the drug dealers, illegal immigrants, foreign travelers purchasing in America, income from tips, underworld dealings, those who file false tax returns or fail to file altogether, and the wealthy who will still be able to shelter or hide their true income. The FairTax brings so much more to the table for our government because it can tap all these sources for tax income. I believe it is much fairer to the poor than any of the other plans. It will eliminate all the tax rules and loopholes which makes our present system difficult for even tax preparers to decipher. It will provide a continuous flow of money to meet our governments needs and should even solve the SS problem. There is no need for concern that Americans will cut back on purchasing. When they begin to receive their full pay checks, without federal tax and fica deductions, they will just go out and spend because we are a totally consumer oriented society. Almost weekly, I read an article concerning some problem with the present tax system such as small business abuse of the S Corp rule, or inability of the IRS to collect back taxes, different interpretations of the tax rules and on and on. The FairTax will eliminate most all of these problems and, although it may present some new ones, I do not forsee them to be as hard to solve, or to catch, as those inherent in our present system.
