Comment: I am 71 years old and a semi retired engineer. The current income tax laws
are ridiculously complex. My recommendations for change:

1. Flat tax with no deductions including no deductions for charities or home
mortgages or credits of any kind. Each individual should be free to decide
what is important and the government should not decide that charities and
home ownership are important to society.

2. Tax to be applied to all income levels - no one should be exempt. People
who pay no taxes are not very interested in good efficient government. If
the government mandates an income tax, every citizen should pay income
taxes.

3. Flat tax rate to be set as needed for the budget. The rate should be
lowered during good economic periods and as government programs are reduced
and become more efficient.
